“I begin with an idea and then it becomes
something else.” - Pablo Picasso
As an art educator for over 35 years I
have always marveled at the quality, diversity and creativity exhibited by my
students. Picasso’s quotation speaks to
the essence of the creative process. You begin, but are never sure where your
self expression, style or vision will lead you. Sometimes your path is familiar
and sometimes unfamiliar, sometimes successful and sometimes not so much but it's
a path to stay on none the less. My
students possess a vitality and energy to embark on a path, engage in the
process and create something unique. Their adventurous spirit is and always will be a
source of inspiration. For many years I have steered them as they courageously take
a blank canvas and embark on their own path of creative expression. How
fortunate we are as artists , to walk with eyes wide open and have the creative spirit
embedded in our souls.
